Elliptical micropillar cavity design for highly efficient polarized emission of single photons

We present a numerical investigation of the performance micropillar cavity single-photon source featuring an elliptical cross section. While ellipticity serves to establish polarization control emitted photons, it introduces trade-off due reduced coupling Gaussian profile in far field and need for significantly increased pumping power when resonant excitation scheme is implemented. Starting from circular micropillar, we identify optimum geometrical parameters leading maximum polarized efficiency 0.90 combined with modest relative increase pump 16 dB.
